BCFC: Main Stand VIP Boxes a Traditional Revamp

Following on from our major stadium transformation at Birmingham City FC, where we completed seven hospitality suites, corporate offices, player and spectator amenities, corridors, stairwells, and helped deliver their new Fan Park—we returned the following year to tackle the VIP executive boxes along the historic Main Stand.

As the oldest part of St Andrew's, the Main Stand possesses a distinct, classic character. Positioned lower down relative to modern stadium layouts, these traditional boxes offer guests an exceptionally close, uninterrupted view right across the pitch. Rather than stripping away that history with modern hyper-minimalism, the goal was to respect the legacy of the space while giving each suite a clean, high-spec, and comfortable update.

VIP Box Refinements

Preserving Original Joinery: The classic wood panelling throughout the boxes was retained to protect the stand’s traditional aesthetic. Where needed, our team carefully repaired and restored damaged sections, matching the original timber finishes seamlessly.

Heritage-Matched Upgrades: Any new features or integrated elements added to the wood panelling were tailored to complement the traditional style of the room.

Upgraded Doors: Each box received refurbished and upgraded entry doors, improving both security and overall sound insulation.

Modern Suite Refreshes: Every box along the stand received a complete cosmetic overhaul, including crisp paintwork, premium low-pile carpets, updated lighting fixtures, modern under-counter fridges, and refreshed executive seating that takes full advantage of the close-up pitch view.

Corridor Overhaul

To tie the entire executive row together, we completely transformed the main corridor running behind the boxes, repainting the full length of the walkway and laying high-durability carpet to elevate the arrival experience for guests.

Behind the Scenes Video

Below, you can watch a "Day in the Life" video featuring Birmingham City CEO Jeremy Dale. During the tour, you can catch a glimpse of the renovated VIP boxes, along with a moment where he jokingly suggests the original corridor carpet hadn't been replaced in over 40 years, giving a great, human insight into the scale of the transformation.

The Result

By striking a balance between heritage restoration and practical cosmetic upgrades, we delivered a consistent, high-standard hospitality environment across the entire Main Stand—all handed over seamlessly to ensure the suites were ready for matchday hosting.

Our client managers and project managers worked closely alongside the Birmingham City team throughout the project. Their team were great to work with, and thanks to straightforward communication and hard work from our staff, we delivered the project smoothly without any hassle or disruption to the club.
