During Birmingham’s summer 2024 stadium upgrades, the owners focused on enhancing hospitality. A key project was the Globe and Ball, a fan-favourite venue. Previously The Happy Abode, the club let fans choose the new name, inspired by its logo: a globe over a ball. With direct access from the stadium car park, it welcomes all fans and transforms into a lively beer garden on sunny match days. Originally a compact space with three serving stations, we expanded its footprint, modernised the design and more than doubled service capacity. The result? Faster service, greater efficiency and an elevated matchday experience.

INNOVATIVE BEER WALL

The standout feature of this build is the self-serve beer wall, which boasts 6 stations provided by Box Bar, mounted on a slate stone backdrop, each with touchscreen panels. A bespoke cup stand is integrated into the design, while the rear provides easy access for service, enhancing both customer experience and operational efficiency.

SIMPLISTIC DESIGN

Due to its free access from outside the ground, this high-traffic area features a minimalist design. Kegs are mounted on one wall, with the beer wall on the opposite side. Foldable benches provide flexible seating, while vibrant, contrasting designs energise the toilet areas, creating a dynamic yet functional space.

STREAMLINED BAR

To complement the beer wall, a kiosk area has been added. Designed to be versatile, it can be staffed to serve snacks and soft drinks while also supporting fans and enhancing the beer wall’s functionality. The kiosk features an attached storeroom to streamline service, combining robust construction with a sleek, modern design.

CREATIVE EXTRA SPACE

Thanks to the Box 2 Box expansion, the area behind Globe and Ball was excavated and concreted, creating additional space for significant improvements. This allowed us to double the floor space inside the bar, build upgraded toilet facilities, and add a large storage area at the back to enhance service efficiency for both bars.
