Restaurant Fit-Outs Across Sheffield

Sheffield has always had edge, and the restaurant scene in this city has not been left behind. Leveraging mood and experience has been a major part of the success of the hospitality industry in Sheffield.

For years, Dawnvale has been helping leading brands in the city upgrade their interiors and commercial kitchens, making them more customer-centric, functional, and in tune with modern trends.

Hickory’s Smokehouse

Hickory’s Smokehouse is one of the projects in Sheffield that we hold close to our hearts. This is not a quiet restaurant concept with polite corners and soft background music. It is smoke, energy, theatre, family dining, big flavours, and serious kitchen output, and we delivered the brief to perfection.

The Sheffield site marked Hickory’s first move into South Yorkshire, transforming the former Gypsy Queen pub into a full smokehouse experience. We delivered the bespoke smokehouse kitchen at the heart of the venue, supporting the brand’s signature low-and-slow cooking style and high-volume service model.

This is exactly the kind of project where operational design matters. A smokehouse kitchen has to be robust, practical, and carefully planned. It needs to support specialist cooking, prep, service, holding, extraction, and flow without killing the atmosphere that makes the brand feel alive.

A Kitchen Built for Smoke, Speed, and Service

Smokehouse restaurants are demanding spaces that focus on more than just the experience.

Food is not simply cooked and plated. It is prepared with time, technique, and consistency. The kitchen needs to handle volume while keeping the product true to the brand. That means equipment, extraction, workspace, storage, and service areas all need to be properly integrated.

For Hickory’s Sheffield, our role centred on creating a kitchen that could sit behind a bold customer experience and keep the operation moving.

When the kitchen works, the restaurant breathes. Service feels smoother. Staff move with confidence. Customers get the experience they came for.

TGI Fridays

TGI Fridays is built around impact, characterised by big flavour, big colour, big energy, and fast-paced service. High customer turnover. A strong American-style brand experience that has to feel consistent across busy locations.

Dawnvale has worked with TGI Fridays on restaurant and bar fit-out projects, supporting the brand with elements such as commercial kitchens, bars, bespoke seating, furniture, and high-footfall interior solutions.

For Sheffield operators, this kind of work shows how a fit-out can carry a strong brand identity while still keeping performance at the centre.

High-Volume Restaurant Fit-Out Thinking

A venue like TGI Fridays requires careful design and fit-out to cater to the fast-paced nature of the outlet.

The kitchen has to handle pressure. The bar has to support cocktails and fast service. Furniture has to withstand daily wear, and the layout has to make sense to families, groups, shoppers, lunch customers, and evening diners.

The fit-out has to be loud enough to carry the brand, but smart enough to keep the business moving.

Achieving this intricate balance is one of Dawnvale’s strong suits, and we do not look at restaurant interiors as surface styling. We look at how the space earns its keep.

CHAOBABY

Created by Thai Leisure Group, CHAOBABY’s concept was designed as a smaller, buffet-style Thai eatery with a luxurious and authentic feel. Dawnvale worked on CHAOBABY locations including Sheffield, Birmingham, and Manchester, with a brief focused on sumptuous spaces, theatrical flair, and strong operational performance.

The Sheffield project sits beautifully within Dawnvale’s restaurant fit-out story because it shows how design, food display, theatre cooking, and material detail can all work together.

Open-Plan Kitchens with Visual Energy

Open-plan kitchens change how a restaurant feels and bring movement to the dining space. They let guests see chefs at work, which creates trust and brings energy and appetite before the food even reaches the table.

For CHAOBABY, Dawnvale created open-plan kitchens with central cooking islands, allowing diners to watch the chefs in action. Black granite sheets were incorporated into the back-wall cookline, while long granite servery displays helped give the buffet experience a premium finish.

Materials with Drama and Durability

CHAOBABY needed rich visual detail without losing practicality, which is why we used varied materials across the fit-out, including sleek Corian, illuminated glass, marble, and hard-wearing granite. The bespoke bars included layered backlit glass panels designed to soften and diffuse light, creating a warmer and more atmospheric bar area.

For the Meadowhall setting, Dawnvale also created a large layered glass Buddha as a focal point, adding cultural character and visual impact to the space.

That is what strong restaurant design can do. It can make a venue feel memorable without turning it into a theme park.

The Botanist

The Botanist is a masterclass in atmosphere, with rustic charm and botanical styling that features reclaimed timber, metalwork, exposed brick, and weathered finishes. It is a bar that feels like it has grown into the room rather than been dropped into it.

Dawnvale has had the honour of working on The Botanist as a nationwide project, installing bar systems that support the brand’s distinctive potting-shed-meets-cocktail-bar personality. In Sheffield, where The Botanist has become part of the city’s bar and restaurant scene, that style of hospitality design feels particularly at home.

A Bar as the Centrepiece

For The Botanist, the bar is not just functional, but also the focal point of the establishment.

Dawnvale’s work involved creating a bar that could sit naturally within the rustic concept while still commanding attention. The design combined a stainless steel structure with aged timber counters and weathered plank frontages, giving the bar both durability and character.

The best bars do more than serve drinks. They also set the tone, create rhythm, invite customers to gather, and become part of the venue’s identity. This is what we helped the bar at The Botanist achieve.

Rustic Finish, Commercial Strength

The Botanist’s design language feels relaxed, layered, and slightly wild, but the construction behind it has to be anything but casual.

Reclaimed textures, timber, exposed finishes, and distressed effects all need to be backed by commercial-grade build quality. In a busy restaurant or bar, materials face constant use, cleaning, impact, and wear.

Through years of experience, we understand how to create that worn-in, atmospheric look without compromising the performance of the fit-out.

It is controlled roughness. Designed imperfection. Character with a proper build behind it.
