Windlesham Golf Club: Clubhouse Fit-Out Complete
Table of Contents
ToggleAt Windlesham Golf Club, the clubhouse has been reimagined to create a more inviting and functional environment for members.
The brief was to introduce colour, texture and a clear identity, while improving how the space performs day to day. The client was looking for a high-quality finish that would stand the test of time, which is why they partnered with Dawnvale to deliver the transformation.
From the moment you arrive, the design creates a stronger sense of character, with a layout built around clearly defined areas that support different uses across the club.
Lobby
The project starts in a small entrance lobby, where we set the tone for the rest of the clubhouse.
We installed a large feature tree wallpaper to draw people into the space and create an immediate visual impact. From here, there are views through into the main clubhouse, but also back out towards the car park, which the client wanted to address.
To solve this, we designed and built a bespoke central feature. On the entrance side, it works as a console table for events and member information. On the clubhouse side, it forms a radius seating area.
At the centre of this piece is an artificial tree, which fills the space and creates a strong focal point. Around this, we introduced bold furniture, patterned finishes and updated lighting. The original spotlights were removed and replaced with LED strip lighting and coving to better highlight the structure and finishes within the space.
Lounge
We created a quieter lounge area for members to relax.
This space includes bespoke lounge chairs, sofas and new carpet, designed to feel more comfortable and informal. It offers a clear contrast to the busier parts of the clubhouse and gives members a place to sit after a round or meet in a more relaxed setting.
Dining Area
The central dining space has been opened up and redefined.
We removed the existing freestanding dividers and replaced them with fixed glazed screens and low-level walls. This keeps the space open but clearly separates it from other areas.
The vaulted ceiling is now a key feature, with new lighting added to highlight the beams. The existing timber floor was restored and stained to work with the new furniture.
We also introduced new tables and chairs throughout to create a more consistent and higher-quality dining environment. The layout now connects more naturally through to the external patio.
Bar
The bar has been completely refurbished.
We removed the original dark timber frontage and replaced it with curved, pebble-coloured tiles, creating a textured finish across the face of the bar. New lighting enhances this and brings the bar to life.
A brass gantry has been installed above the bar, providing much-needed glass storage while also acting as a strong visual feature. Behind the bar, we fitted a new back bar with improved storage, integrated wine fridges and a full-length mirrored display.
We also introduced new fixed seating, bar stools and tables, including stone-effect tabletops that reflect light and add to the overall finish of the space.
External Patio
To the rear of the clubhouse, we redeveloped the full patio area overlooking the course.
We removed the existing paving, upgraded drainage across the space and installed new slot drains in preparation for future phases. The area was then finished with large-format travertine tiles to create a more premium outdoor setting.
New external furniture completes the space, giving members a place to sit and use the clubhouse externally, particularly during the summer months.
The Result
The finished clubhouse is a clear step forward from what was there before.
It now has a strong entrance, better use of space throughout and clearly defined areas for different types of use. The combination of new finishes, furniture and lighting has created a more modern and functional environment for members, while still reflecting the character of the club.
The client was closely involved throughout the project, helping shape the final look and feel. The end result is a space that works better, looks stronger and gives Windlesham a clubhouse that stands out.
